Uganda – the Pearl of Africa
Everything You Need to Plan a Uganda Adventure
Winston Churchill didn’t call Uganda the Pearl of Africa without a reason. This landlocked, small, East-African country offers everything from impenetrable rain forests, savannahs, and dry desert-like regions to rugged mountain ranges with glaciers, Kampala’s great nights scene, and a coastline to the world’s largest lake. And I haven’t even started mentioning the people and the variety of wildlife yet!
Uganda’s most famous attraction are the mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. While gorilla tracking surely is something every adventurous person should experience; don’t forget to explore the rest of the country. Kick-back by Lake Bunyonyi, look out for elephants along the road in Queen Elizabeth National Park, go birding in the Mabamba swamps, game-driving in Murchison Falls National Park, walk alongside massive rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, and spend at least one night out in Kampala. Along the way, I can guarantee that you will encounter some of the friendliest and kindest people you have ever met!
Unlike Churchill, I haven’t been around much of the African continent (yet), but I agree one hundred percent: Uganda is a pearl! Find all my posts about this marvellous country below.
